Location. The Drake Hotel is located in downtown Chicago, Ill., and is adjacent to The Magnificent Mile's shops and restaurants on North Michigan Avenue. The hotel is less than three blocks from the John Hancock Observatory and the Water Tower and Mall. The hotel overlooks Lake Michigan, three blocks away.
Hotel Features. The Drake Hotel's lobby features Italian Renaissance architecture with crystal chandeliers and carved moldings. Built in 1920, the hotel is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel offers five restaurants and a bar including The Cape Cod Room, Drake Bros.', The Palm Court and Club International, a members-only dining facility. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas. A Gold Key Concierge service sets up appointments at nearby spas and reserves tickets for shows. The Drake Hotel appeared in several movies including "Mission Impossible," "Risky Business" and "My Best Friend's Wedding."

Expert Tip. The Coq d'Or lounge bar on street level of The Drake Hotel was one of the first bars to open after Prohibition. Today, the red leather-padded booths and dark, low-ceilings embody a speakeasy atmosphere. The hotel is a place for daily live piano music and specialty martinis. Open until 2 a.m., Coq d'Or also serves wine and beer.
