Located in the Midtown Piedmont district of Atlanta, Ga., in Georgia Tech's Technology Square and 15 minutes from Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport, the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center claims to be Atlanta's most sophisticated and technologically advanced hotel. The revitalized area, located between downtown Atlanta and Buckhead, is home to restored Victorian and Craftsman-style bungalows, trendy restaurants, top nightspots, antique stores and major art institutions.
The Georgia Tech Hotel, with 252 guestrooms in an eight-story, red brick building, features high-tech amenities including wireless Internet access, as well as data ports for dial-up Internet access, exhibit space, meeting facilities, restaurant and bar, and business services. Although contemporary and businesslike in its decor, the hotel exudes a work-and-relax ambience with a two-story, light-filled lobby featuring various seating areas and a 1920s Ford roadster convertible displaying Georgia Tech's colors and logo.

A third-floor sky- lighted pavilion houses a three-lane lap pool and spa tub; for a daily fee, hotel guests may use the Georgia Tech Student Athletic Complex, which contains basketball and racquetball courts and a large fitness center. Trolleys provide complimentary transportation.

Pastel colors adorning rich mahogany and cherry furnishings warm the hotel's guestrooms, which come complete with work desks, swivel chairs, task lighting, high-speed wireless and wired Internet access, data ports for dial-up Internet access, and deluxe coffeemakers.

After a day at a busy conference, both academic and business guests can enjoy the luxuries of 12-inch plush-top mattresses and comforters, flat- screen 27-inch televisions, and in the bathrooms, fine granite vanities and tile flooring. Driving directions from Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport:
Exit the airport by following signs to I-85 North. Proceed north on I-85 and leave highway at Exit 250 (10th/14th St). After exiting, turn right onto 10th St and then turn right onto Spring Street. The hotel is 0.5 mile ahead on the right.

A shuttle bus ($15-$25) and taxis ($26-$35) provide transportation from the airport to the hotel. Atlanta's transit system, MARTA, (less than $5) operates trains from the airport, and there's a station (Midtown) four blocks from the hotel from which Georgia Tech's trolley system provides complimentary shuttle service and another station (North Avenue) two blocks from the hotel. Car rentals are available online.

Taxis and Town Cars are available at the hotel. Atlanta's transit system, MARTA, provides light-rail and bus service (less than $5) throughout the area, and there's a station (Midtown) four blocks from the hotel to which Georgia Tech's trolley system provides complimentary shuttle service as well as to points on the Georgia Tech campus. Another MARTA station (North Avenue) lies two blocks from the hotel.
