Location. The Hotel San Carlos - Downtown Convention Center is located in downtown Phoenix, Ariz. Dodge Theatre, Chase Field, US Airways Arena, Arizona Science Center, Herberger Theater, Orpheum Theatre and Phoenix Symphony hall are all within six blocks from the hotel.
Hotel Features. Opened in 1931, the Hotel San Carlos - Downtown Convention Center is the only historic boutique hotel in the Phoenix area. Lobby décor preserves the hotel's historic past with polished wood floors, chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Street-front shopping directly outside the lobby includes a men's apparel shop, barber shop, gift shop and shoeshine/repair shop. The hotel includes a third floor outdoor pool and sundeck surrounded by potted plants, globe streetlights and cushioned lounge chairs. The Copper Door Steakhouse serves traditional American cuisine with a southwestern flare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seamus McCaffrey's Irish Pub & Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner while Silver Spoon Cafe offers weekday breakfast and lunch. Happy hour is offered at the Copper Door Saloon, featuring two 46-inch flat-panel LCD televisions.
Guestrooms. All 121 guest accommodations feature high ceilings, antique furnishings, tapestries and crown moldings. Complimentary wireless internet and gourmet coffee is included. Guest baths include upgraded Rusk brand toiletries, shower tub combinations and white tile floors with pedestal sinks.
Expert Tip. Hollywood legends Marilyn Monroe and Mae West stayed at the Hotel San Carlos - Downtown Convention Center. The Singing Cowboy, Gene Autry, also stayed and once performed at the hotel. His star is included with other legendary guests on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.
