Location. The venue for John and Yoko's 1969 'Bed-in for peace', this V-shaped canal-front hotel mirrors the symmetrical Berlage architecture of its exclusive Amsterdam district, one kilometre from Vondelpark. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is a 25-minute drive, 15 kilometres away.
Hotel Features. In winter months guests can sink into leather armchairs and warm up in front of the fire of the hotel bar overlooking the marina. During warmer times the garden offers a canopied sun terrace and lawn, where guests and locals enjoy drinks and barbecues with views over the canal. As well as an onsite hair salon, a boutique provides a range of designer clothing, and there is also a gift shop. The adjoining health club is open to guests (surcharge) and includes a gym, sauna and Turkish steam room. There is secure parking on site (surcharge).
The Hilton Amsterdam's restaurant, Roberto's, serves Italian dishes, fish and seafood specialities and Sunday brunches. Coffees, pastries and sandwiches are available in the Issimo café.
There are four golf courses and two driving ranges within 15 kilometres of the hotel. The two public courses are open to anyone, and members of British clubs can also play at the private clubs.
Guestrooms. The Hilton Hotel Amsterdam has 280 air-conditioned guestrooms spread over 10 floors. Decor is light and cheery with contemporary beech wood furnishings, and beds with duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets. A pillow menu is offered, and amenities include desks with direct-dial phones, wireless Internet, tea/coffee making facilities, minibars, and 21-inch flatscreen TVs with pay movies. Bathrooms include shower/tubs, hair dryers, and soap menus.
Expert Tip. Guests can order picnic baskets and hire bicycles from the hotel reception. It is just a short ride from the Hilton Amsterdam to the Vodelpark (one kilometre away), a peaceful expanse of green where Amsterdammers enjoy picnics accompanied by open-air concerts and theatre over the summer months.

Getting there. There is a railway station in the terminal's central hall, under Schiphol Plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Centraal Station approximately every 15 minutes and take 10-15 minutes. A taxi from the station to the hotel should cost €10-15. Taxis are also available from outside the arrivals hall and cost in the region of €40 to the hotel.
Every ten minutes between 6 AM and 9 PM the Connexxion Schiphol Hotel Shuttle bus leaves from platform A7, situated just outside Arrivals hall and stops in front of the Hilton Amsterdam. Tickets are available on the bus and at the hotel reception desk (12 EUR one way).
