Location.Hotel Rex is a city-centre property housed in an 18th-Century villa, situated within 800 metres of some of Rome's favourite popular attractions, including Capocci Towers. Rome Fiumicino Airport is 30 kilometres away, and takes around 34 minutes to reach by car.
Hotel Features.Guests are offered a buffet breakfast in the bright breakfast room, and multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk can arrange transport to and from the airport (surcharge). The concierge can help to book tours and tickets, and Hotel Rex has a library and a solarium where guests can unwind. A lift connects the three floors, and there is parking nearby for those arriving by car.
Guestrooms.The 48 air- conditioned guestrooms are located on three floors. All include cable television, direct-dial phones, wireless Internet access (surcharge), minibars, complimentary newspapers and complimentary toiletries. DVD players and video-game consoles are available on request.
Expert Tip.The Palazzo Barberini Baroque palace, 700 metres from the hotel, is home to the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, one of the most important painting collections in Italy. It includes, among many others, Raphael's portrait La Fornarina, Caravaggio's Judith Beheading Holofernes, and a Hans Holbein portrait of Henry VIII.

Getting there.There is an express train service every 30 minutes to Rome's Termini train station (journey time 30 minutes), which is 500 metres from the hotel. A single ticket costs around 10 EUR. Taxis are readily available at the airport, but take a licensed metered taxi only. An airport surcharge is payable and a taxi to the hotel will cost 50-60 EUR. Rome's efficient integrated transportation system includes buses, trams, subway (Metro) and suburban trains. Tickets should be bought before boarding and are available from ATAC ticket machines and all tobacconists. A single ticket (BIT) costs 1 EUR, is valid for 75 minutes, and covers unlimited bus journeys and one metro trip. The historic city centre is easily negotiated on foot. Driving is not recommended for visitors.
