The Hotel Ambassador is a modern, 1970s retro-styled hotel located in the centre of Berlin, 200 metres from the KaDeWe department store and 11 kilometres from the airport. The 218 guestrooms have 1970s-style furniture and colour schemes and include satellite television, direct-dial telephones, wireless Internet connections, complimentary newspapers and bathrooms with shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries.
After the complimentary breakfast, guests can check their e-mails or plan a sightseeing itinerary via public Internet access (surcharge). Light snacks, salads and sandwiches are served on the garden terrace, and staff at the front desk can recommend local restaurants. In the evenings, guests can unwind with cocktails in the informal bar, which features retro orange chairs and shimmering gold lamps. The infamous Checkpoint Charlie, marking the former border between East and West Germany, now features a museum devoted to the history of the Berlin Wall and can be found eight kilometres away. Berlin Tegel Airport is 11 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 20 minutes.

Taxis are readily available outside the terminal, a typical taxi fare from the airport to the hotel is €15. Bus services are also available. Take the X0 to the Zoologischer Garten, then bus number 100 to Kurfustenstrasse. Berlin's integrated public transport system (the BVG) is the best way to get about. One ticket allows travel on all trains, trams, buses and ferries.
Driving directions: From the airport, take the A100 in the direction of Charlottenburg. Then take exit 1 Kurfurstendamm, heading towards the city centre. Head down Kurfurstendamm boulevard until the Ungerground Wittenbergplatz. Pass the underground and turn left, to Bayreuther Strasse; the hotel is on the right-hand side.
